Teaching and learning are central to our project. Through innovative pedagogy and focused content, we help students understand the process of ethical reflection, gain knowledge and skills to apply that process in their own personal and professional lives, and mature as public citizens making concrete contributions to the public good. To support these goals, we have developed a flagship course on Ethics in the Public Sphere and a cluster of linked courses In addition to course development at UF, our site provides resources for teaching and learning and about particular public issues and about civil discourse and polarization around these issues.
There are various ways to participate in Ethics in the Public Sphere. UF students can take courses in the area, pursue the certificate in Ethics & Society, or serve as interns for our project through the CAIRES Center’s Active Learning Program. In addition, we host frequent public events on and off campus, most of which are open to the public. We also welcome instructors, at UF and beyond, who would like to collaborate on research, teaching, and outreach projects. Please contact us at public-ethics@clas.ufl.edu.
