Prof. Calvert will give a short presentation about the constitutional and legal meanings of academic freedom as well as the way it has been interpreted in the courts in relation to the STOP WOKE Act (HB 7).  Following this, Dr. Paul Ortiz, Professor of History, Director of the Samuel Proctor Oral History Program, and President of the United Faculty of Florida-UF chapter, will talk about the ways that UF’s Collective Bargaining Agreement understands academic freedom and give a brief update on current challenges.
